Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we warmly welcome you to Nepal’s vibrant capital. Our representative will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, we’ll hold a short briefing about the upcoming journey to the culturally rich and lesser-explored lowlands of the Far West. The evening is yours to relax or explore the lively streets of Thamel, soaking in the first impressions of Nepal’s unique charm.

Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyombhunath, Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa
We explore the heart of Kathmandu with visits to its most iconic landmarks. At Kathmandu Durbar Square, we admire ancient palaces and temples that showcase Nepal’s rich history and artistry. From there, we head to Swayambhunath Stupa, perched atop a hill, where we witness vibrant Buddhist rituals alongside panoramic views of the city. Next, we visit Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site on the banks of the Bagmati River, experiencing deep spiritual traditions. Finally, we take in the grandeur of Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, where prayer wheels turn endlessly, and peace fills the air.

Fly to Dhangadhi and Drive to Mahendranagar
We take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi, landing in the gateway to Nepal’s Far Western region. From Dhangadhi airport, we embark on a comfortable drive to Mahendranagar, the bustling district headquarters known for its vibrant markets and cultural mix. Along the way, we enjoy the changing landscapes of the Terai plains, setting the tone for the authentic experiences ahead.

Hike to Jhilmil Lake and Drive to Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve
We start our day with a refreshing hike to the serene Jhilmil Lake, nestled amidst lush greenery and offering a peaceful retreat into nature. The tranquil waters and surrounding forests provide perfect opportunities for birdwatching and quiet reflection. After soaking in the beauty of Jhilmil, we continue our journey by driving to Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. Here, we prepare for exciting wildlife adventures in one of Nepal’s most important conservation areas, home to diverse flora and fauna, including elephants, deer, and numerous bird species.

Full Day at Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve
We dedicate a full day to exploring the incredible biodiversity of Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. Known for its expansive grasslands and dense forests, the reserve is a sanctuary for a variety of wildlife, including herds of elephants, barking deer, swamp deer, and over 400 species of birds. Our morning begins with a guided jeep safari through the park’s prime habitats, offering thrilling chances to spot elusive animals in their natural environment. After a midday break, we continue with a peaceful nature walk, immersing ourselves in the rich sounds and sights of the wilderness. Throughout the day, our expert guides share insights about the reserve’s ecology and conservation efforts, making this an enriching and unforgettable wildlife experience.

Drive to Dhangadhi and Sightseeing in Dhangadhi
We drive back to Dhangadhi, enjoying the scenic views of the Terai plains along the way. Upon arrival, we explore the vibrant town known for its lively markets, local temples, and friendly communities. From bustling streets to peaceful parks, Dhangadhi offers a charming glimpse into everyday life in Nepal’s Far West. We take time to visit key sights and interact with locals, soaking in the unique culture before preparing for the next leg of our journey.

Drive to Tikapur and Visit Royal Garden
We drive to Tikapur, a serene town along the Karnali River, known for its natural beauty and calm atmosphere. This visit offers a relaxing break and a glimpse into the local heritage before we continue our journey.

We embark on a scenic drive to Bardia National Park, Nepal’s largest and most pristine wilderness area. As we travel through the lush Terai plains, anticipation builds for the incredible wildlife encounters and untouched natural beauty that await us. Upon arrival, we prepare to explore this sanctuary known for its rich biodiversity, including Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, and countless bird species.

Full Day at Bardia National Park
We dedicate a full day to discovering the wonders of Bardia National Park, one of Nepal’s most pristine and biodiverse protected areas. Our day begins with an early morning jeep safari, where we keep a keen eye out for Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, elephants, and elusive deer amidst the park’s dense forests and grasslands. After a mid-morning break, we continue with a guided nature walk along the Karnali River, spotting a variety of bird species and soaking in the tranquil surroundings. Throughout the day, our knowledgeable guides share insights into the park’s ecology, wildlife conservation efforts, and the cultural significance of the region’s Tharu community. Drive to Nepaljung and fly back to Kathmandu
We drive from Bardia National Park to Nepalgunj, enjoying the final views of the Terai plains along the way. Upon arrival, we board our flight back to Kathmandu, reflecting on the incredible wildlife, culture, and landscapes we’ve experienced throughout the Far West journey. As we soar above the mountains, we look forward to the next chapter of our adventure or a restful end to our unforgettable Nepal tour.
